About Us

We've rebranded from SYNC to Sound Space. We have the same values and mission; we've just expanded to create a space for patients of all ages and providers who serve clients across the lifespan.

At Sound Space, you'll find a group of neurodivergent providers and allies who believe in care that’s affirming, respectful, and built on real connection. We listen, we collaborate, and we center each person’s unique strengths and story. We’re deeply rooted in community, collaboration, social justice, and progress.

Meet the Founder of Sound Space

Mary Coburn, M.A., CCC-SLP the founder of Sound Space

Welcome to Sound Space!

I'm Mary Coburn, M.A., CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist with over eleven years of experience in private practice. Through my work at Whole Child Therapy Services, I observed that many traditional private practice models limited professional collaboration, prioritized productivity over people, and left providers feeling isolated. And when providers aren't supported, that impact flows directly to the families and patients they serve.

That belief became the foundation for Sound Space, originally launched as the Sound Youth Neurodiversity Collective (SYNC). It was my vision to create a collaborative, family-centered model where professionals could work together to better support clients of all ages and their families and caregivers. As SYNC evolved, it became clear that the greatest need wasn't shared space, but meaningful connection, education, and professional support. Sound Space emerged as the next chapter of that vision, expanding beyond a physical collective into a professional community focused on learning, collaboration, and growth.

Today, Sound Space is designed for both the provider and the patient. Providers are invited to join a community where education, training, peer consultation, and multidisciplinary collaboration are at the center, so that families can benefit from thoughtful, coordinated, values-aligned care.

Sound Space Core Values

Every provider on the Sound Space directory has made a commitment to align their services with the Sound Space core values.

Relationship

We believe people grow best when they feel safe, heard, and supported.

At Sound Space, we center relationships through connection, collaboration, and responsiveness, building trust that supports meaningful growth within families, professional relationships, and the broader community.

Growth

We believe growth happens through learning, reflection, and shared experience.

At Sound Space, we learn from one another and from the individuals and families we serve, using feedback to grow thoughtfully, ethically, and in ways that are sustainable.

Integrity

We lead with transparency, fairness, and care for people over profit.

At Sound Space, ethical practice, accountability, and inclusion guide our decisions, ensuring support is responsive to real needs while honoring the well-being of both families and professionals.

Advocacy & Equity

We believe individuals thrive when their environments support them.

At Sound Space, we advocate for access, inclusion, and meaningful accommodations that reduce barriers and promote belonging across families, systems, and communities.

Accountability

We believe accountability is essential to trust and growth.

At Sound Space, we take responsibility for our actions, reflect on impact, and engage in repair when needed. We hold ourselves and one another to shared ethical standards, clear boundaries, and follow through, so our community remains safe, respectful, and aligned with our values.

When providers feel connected, supported, and valued, that care ripples outward, and patients and families feel the difference.
